ashley + scott // columbus ohio engagement photographer [ scioto audubon + german village ]
Talk about CUTE! This questionnaire is one of my favorites. A must read. I am so excited for their wedding next spring! In May I drove down to Columbus to photograph these two. We met at the Scioto Audubon Metro Park and eventually worked our way to German Village. The love they have for each other is inspiring. Did I mention that I can't wait for their wedding? *All the heart eye emojis for these two and their smiles*
How did you meet? We met at a "Beer Olympics" competition at our friends house in Columbus, OH. It took us about a year later to get to know each other and start talking.
What is the story of your proposal? "She always said that she didn't want me to propose around a holiday because it was cheesy. The one exception was Christmas lights. There was a small but very pretty light display in front of Creekside park in Gahanna, OH. I made a light up sign with Christmas lights that said "Will You Marry Me?" and hung it from the bridge at the park. I walked her by the park and she wanted to stop and look at the lights. With the help of some friends, while she was distracted they lit up the sign and I proposed. She was totally surprised, and of course said 'Yes.'" - Scott
"I was so shocked when he asked because at the time I was convinced it wasn't going to happen anytime soon that I said no to him at first. Oops..." - Ashley
What is your idea of a date night?
Her: We're so content with staying in, cooking dinner and watching reruns of The Office or he really really loves going to Target or Hobby Lobby with me (ha!)
Him: Going to a Cleveland Indians game or just hanging out at home and watching our favorite shows. Indians games have become kind of a special date for us. That's what we did on our first weekend get-away together.
What are your favorite things about each other?
Her: His sense of humor, ambition, and determination. He's got a big ol' heart and cares so much about me. He's my best friend that I can talk to about anything, to the point if it's something completely ridiculous - he just gives me a look... One thing that I've noticed lately with everything that's been going on in our lives; moving, me job searching, mass chaos, etc... he's really good at keeping me calm, reassuring me that everything is going to work out and be alright, which is something that I really really appreciate.
Him: I know this is going to sound cliche but I literally love everything about her. She is my best friend, and I truly couldn't live without her. Aside from being the most beautiful woman in the world, she is strong, kind, funny, intelligent and stubborn, and always makes life an adventure.
What are you most looking forward to about being married?
Her: Being able to start an adventure together. We have so many plans, places we want to go, things we want to do. Just getting to have fun and be together.
Him: Spending the rest of my life with her. Being able to fully express my commitment of love to her and being by her side as we live life and have many adventures together.
