Ahh how cute are these two!? Can you believe that we didn’t need to reschedule their session due to rain? AND our original session date looked like THIS! Hard to believe after the rainy spring/summer we’ve had. These two are some of the luckiest Ohioans around.
I had a blast getting to know Haylee and Corbin as they showed me around the family farm. Did you know Cows only have a bottom row of teeth? Oh the things a city girl learns on the farm. The laughter started when I accidentally sunk my whole left foot into a pile of cow poop and it didn’t end even when the shoot was over. These two have a life full of love and laughter ahead of them. Goodness I can’t wait for their wedding that is just one month away!
How did you meet?
We went to the same high school but never really talked to each other.... Corbin was a couple years older. I worked at Menards with one of Corbin's close friends who was quitting and having a going away party at Bdubs. Corbin lived in Indiana at the time but saw that I said that I was attending and came home to go to it. He told himself if there was a chair next to me that he was going to talk to me and of course there was. Corbin bought a plate of ultimate nachos to give him an excuse to talk to me by trying to force me to eat some. I guess it broke the ice and the rest is history.
What is the story of your proposal?
On Christmas Eve we went back to Corbin's house after another family Christmas. I really wanted to open our Christmas presents because I had been holding my present to Corbin as a secret for a few months now but Corbin had to be back up at 3 in the morning to milk the cows so he didn't really want to. I talked him into it anyway by saying "Let's just open one" and then of course before we knew it they were all open! After we were done opening he told me I had one more present hidden in the room somewhere but I had to find it. After a few minutes of the hot and cold game, I finally found an ornament, which Corbin had turned on his lathe, hanging at the top of the Christmas tree... and I could barely reach it. I had just been telling him that he had made every one else a Christmas ornament but not any for me yet so that's all that I thought it was until I heard it clink inside. Then the nerves set in. It took what felt like forever to get the ornament open because it got stuck shut but surely enough there was a ring inside. It worked out great because we got that evening to ourselves and then the next morning we were able to tell both of our families at our Christmas parties.
What is your idea of a date night?
Her: Dinner and a movie is a nice night out. I think some of my favorite spontaneous "dates" that we've had was sitting on the front porch with wine and watching the sun go down or another time we were taking pictures and then pulled over into a field and laid in the truck bed to watch the sunset. One other time we were on our way back from Cincinnati and, we both enjoy taking pictures, so we just pulled over and walked around taking pictures by the bridge/park in Cincinnati.
Him: Dinner and a movie or a nice fire back in the woods.
What is your favorite thing about him?
Her: He's a hard working fella. Farming takes a lot of patience, a big heart, and a good work ethic and he's got all of that and more. I also like that he's a little bit quirky and always knows how to lift my spirits.
Him: I really like that she always has some new project that she's working on and interested in. I don't always like that I have to be involved in the project but I like that she's willing to learn and try new things without hesitation. Also that she likes to dress up and look good and act feminine but she doesn't act like a super whiny girly girl.
What are you most looking forward to about being married?
Her: When Corbin is around... it feels like home and I look forward to having that feeling all of the time. I also look forward to starting our family together and watching him be a dad. I know he'll be a great one.
Him: I'm really just looking forward to being able to see her every day instead of just one day a week. Hopefully that lasts!
