A lake wedding — the best! But, I’m definitely biased. Cory and I tied the knot across the bay from where Janine and Shaun read their vows. If you aren’t a laker, you’ll still be head over heels for these two, their fun personalities, and their love.
Hair and makeup didn’t start until 1pm in the afternoon. Janine kicked back in a cozy chair that overlooked the Oakwood Resort beach while Studio Nouveau did her makeup. Last minute she decided to rock a red lip on her wedding day. Shaun could be found running around at The Hilltop making sure all of the final details were perfect for him and his bride. Throughout their wedding planning process they folded 998 paper cranes to build a chandelier, a photo booth backdrop, and decorations for around the venue. That morning they each folded their final paper crane. Crane number 999 and 1000.
At 5:30 Shaun walked his mom to her seat and made his way to the alter to wait for his bride. Janine and Shaun read their own personal vows, poured unity sand, and exchanged rings during their perfect, windy ceremony overlooking Conklin Bay on Lake Wawasee.
As guests enjoyed cocktail hour we made our way around the Oakwood Resorts property for photos. A stop in their woods, a visit by the lake, and a seat in their iconic yellow adirondack chairs — Lake Wawasee and the Oakwood have it all.
During the reception guests grabbed a candle and made the walk down the hill to the lake. Janine and Shaun planned to light a paper lantern to send up to the sky — beautiful memory with beautiful photos were captured before the lantern took a dip in the lake. The cupid shuffle played by the lake is officially my favorite. Everyone then made their way back up the hill to party with their favorite bride and groom.
Janine and Shaun, it was a honor to photograph these memories for you!
Janine and Shaun would like to thank (more coming soon, they’re still honeymooning in sunny California. Jelly aren’t we? )
