I met Katey back in Kindergarten at Jefferson Elementary. Throughout the years, we had many sleepovers, dance competitions, and talks at our lockers (alphabetical order kept us close from 5th grade to senior year). After high school graduation I picked up my camera and started photographing weddings. While our talks between classes were no longer, I kept up with Katey's life anytime I saw her at a wedding. In 2014 I noticed her date, Scott. The rest of their story brings us to this session below. My favorite thing about him? He always finds a new way to make her laugh out loud.
Last month I drove out to the Lloyd farm to photograph their engagement session. We walked around their back yard snapping photos, dancing, and attempting to stay warm. I am excited to capture their summer wedding images back at their farm. I'm also hoping that their pup makes another debut. :)
How did you meet? Scott and I first met in high school while I was on Junior Fair Board. It wasn't until I was well into college when any contact was made. This is when we started dating.
What is the story of your proposal? I (Katey) was finishing up with Parent-Teacher conferences when my step-sister and her family came to town early. I asked Scott to meet me at my moms house to greet them all. While we all gathered in the living room, we Skype-d in my other step-sister. After this occurred (and after I proceeded to be oblivious to everyone making motions to him in the room), Scott proposed in front of my family.
What is your idea of a date night?
Her: My idea of a date night is just spending quality time together. Whether it is going to a game, going out to eat, or even out in the barn, I enjoy the company we share together.
Him: Taking her out to a nice dinner and going shopping.
What are your favorite things about each other?
Her : One of my favorite things about Scott is his ability to make me laugh. He is always being ornery and making me laugh. I also admire his hard work and his caring nature.
Him : Katey puts a smile on my face. She does hard work around the house and is very helpful during my busy months.
What are you most looking forward to about being married?
Her : I am most looking forward to spending each day together. The idea that no matter what, he will be my support system through everything I go through. It is humbling.
Him : Being with her for the rest of my life. I am also looking forward to building a family with her.
