leigha + brad // van wert ohio engagement photographer

If I were to say “Van Wert’s favorite couple”, odds are that everyone would know who I was talking about. Am I right? So I’m here to introduce Van Wert’s favorite couple!

We started off their shoot reenacting their first kiss on the front porch of a friends home and ended the shoot with drinks in hand of their own home. I had an absolute BLAST photographing these two and their relationship and life they are building together.

Aren’t they the cutest?! Stay tuned for Van Wert’s party of the year this fall.

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends and quickly became drawn to each other. Third shift gave us the opportunity to hang out one-on-one and beers helped break the ice that allowed so many common interests to pour out! The Crawford House front porch sitting will forever be “thee place” where it all started!

What is the story of your proposal?

Brad has been coaching middle school wrestling for the past 8 years. Since being together, Leigha has become the stat girl for the team where she also grew a love for his favorite sport. On the last home match of the 2018-2019 season, Leigha was summoned to the middle of the mat to clean up some “blood” when unbeknownst to her, he was down on one knee right behind her with the ring. “Wrestling has been one of the most consistent things in my life and you were the next, so it just seemed right,” he said to her. After saying yes on February 12th, they shared the excitement with the team, coaches, family, friends, and fans that had been clapping & cheering in the background! Raising arms in the middle of a mat is the sign of a wrestling win-but the standing ovation for his “yes” may have become his most memorable “win” we’ve received!

What is your idea of a date night?

Her: Staying in while making our favorite Mexican dish and jamming out to our favorite rock songs he plays off a playlist we to love wear out! Then plopping on the couch and eating our meal in comfy clothes while some movie plays in the background! No phones, just lost in the food and each other’s company. Cleaning up and heading out to the back porch, sipping on some beverages (busch latte) and telling dumb jokes, old stories with no recollection of time. Being consumed by laughter chilling at home with him will always be one of my favorite date nights!

Him: She said pretty much exactly what I was going to say. If I had to choose a close second place it would have to be $1 coney dogs at B&K root beer stand. Then going to Van Wert cinemas for BOGO night! Then our special occasion dates are going to concerts and getting lost in each other and the music.

What is your favorite thing about him?

Her: Easy. #1: his ability to make me laugh. Yeah, yeah, anyone can make me laugh, but man can he force laughter from deep in my belly! But it’s that kind of laugh that makes me snort (& sometimes snot out my nose), makes my stomach hurt, tears stream down my cheeks and have a lingering giggle long after! Brad has this way of making any mood or situation of mine involve a smile that leads to laughter. I love that about him! *although embarrassing at times, I look forward to a lifetime of laughter with him!

Him: How weird we are but its not weird to us. If someone were to film us, they would think we are the most odd/weirdest couple but I freaking LOVE IT! Random dance parties, singing totally off key to music, talking over each other but knowing exactly what the other one is talking about.

What are you most looking forward to about being married?

Her: not only are we growing old together, but we are growing up together as well. Tackling the adult-life hand in hand and accomplishing milestones side by side makes life so much fun with him. So by getting married, I’m looking forward to upgrading our friendship. Not only will we continue to grow together but have the opportunity to fall in love over and over again with my person for years to come.

Him: Having that one person that you can put all your trust, love, and passion into. We’ve been doing that for a while now, but I want to make it official and shout it to anyone and everyone.
