Gah! May sure is showing off this year. So many pretty days, so many pretty couples. Sam and Brett invited me up to Brett’s hometown of Holland, Michigan to photograph their engagement session. This was my first time in Holland and I can guarantee you it won’t be my last. I wasn’t anticipating just how many people would be in town that Tuesday during the Tulip Time Festival but I loved the challenge of making it look like they were the only two in town for most of their shots.
Sam and Brett have been living the long distance life since they first met a few years ago. Sam currently lives in Fort Wayne and Brett in Holland. They split time between both locations and often find time to spend on Lake Wawasee in the summer. From the moment I met them I knew I had to be their photographer but that final tidbit about Wawasee was the icing on the cake. On top of splitting time in different zip codes their pup, Oakley enjoys a switch in city every week.
So excited to photograph their wedding in Fort Wayne next summer! It’s going to be a beautiful one! In the meantime, enjoy their fun engagement session!
How did you meet?
We met through Bumble quite by accident. Our radii never should have overlapped, but we connected anyway. I went up to meet him for that first weekend (armed with stun gun and multiple escape routes) but after not needing any of it, the rest is history!
What is the story of your proposal?
In February we took a trip to Orlando to spend time in the hap-hap-happiest place on Earth, Disney World! Unbeknownst to me, he had set up (with an event planner) an entire scavenger hunt themed around Beauty and The Beast, my favorite Disney movie. The hunt ended in Belle’s Village in the Magic Kingdom where he popped the question! After nodding enthusiastically because I forgot how to speak, the final surprise showed itself: my parents were there to share in this happy occasion!

Him: Dinner and a cool event (concert, baseball game, etc)
What is your favorite thing about him?

Him: How much she thinks about me and does the little things
What are you most looking forward to about being married?
Her: Definitely having the long distance be a thing of the past, but also building our life full of adventure and love
Him: To have her company more often than every other week
