Back in 2012, I started a series called, Taylor's Travels on the West Kenya Photography blog. It was a way to grow as an artist and share my personal work. I am happy to say that this blog has changed who I am as an artist. Work that I would typically save into my '2016 Personal Work' folder and not visit until a few years down the line has started to make its way into the editing room and eventually onto this blog. While 50% of my personal work is still hiding in an external hard drive, I'd say we are making progress. :)
Last week I was in the Cayman Islands with my best friend of 20 years and her family. I am so fortunate to have had Alex as a next door neighbor and best friend. We've shared many great memories and vacations together throughout the years. Alex has also always been my 'go to' model since I found an empty disposable camera when we were 8. It was fun to get her modeling for me again.
This vacation was different than the past--both of us, college graduates. Several times we were asked what we were doing on a late spring break. Once, we were even asked if we were old enough to order a pina colada--the legal age in the cayman islands is 18. This fall, Alex takes off to Case Western for a masters degree in Art History. I'm so excited to see what the future has in store for us and have this friend and second family for life. Here is to 90+ years of BFF-ing with my BFF.
