Some wedding days unfold exactly as they’re meant to -- unhurried, felt, full of genuine joy. Kristin and Sam’s September wedding at The Bluffs at Conner Prairie, owned by Ritz Charles, was one of those days where every moment was intentional and lived.
Kristin’s day began at home. There’s something grounding about starting a wedding morning at home — familiar walls, laughter drifting from room to room, and a calm anticipation that settles in as hair and makeup wrap up. Those early moments set the tone for the day: relaxed, joyful, and connected.
While Kristin finished getting ready, Sam prepared at The Bluffs. When it was time for their first look, the anticipation was tangible and Sam’s reaction said everything. He was completely taken by Kristin, and fully present in the moment. Photographing that kind of genuine response is always a gift.
Afterward, we moved seamlessly into wedding party portraits, keeping things light and fun — much like the joy and energy the wedding party naturally held.
Guests were welcomed with champagne in the parking area near Kristin’s late grandpa’s beloved old red truck - a small, personal touch that instantly made the day feel meaningful.
Kristin’s late grandfather’s brother officiated, adding another layer of family connection to an already emotional moment.
The setting is the space that doesn’t need much embellishment because the atmosphere speaks for itself.
During cocktail hour, Kristin and Sam chose to spend time mingling with their guests in the side yard.
Custom cocktail napkins featuring their dog, George, added a playful, personal detail.
The reception kicked off in unforgettable fashion with The Bluewater Kings performing three songs before Kristin and Sam made their entrance to “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” by ABBA.
Napkins waved. The room erupted.
The energy was immediate and infectious.
After a plated dinner, heartfelt toasts and first dances filled the room before the band carried the celebration late into the night. As the sun set, the design of the space felt even more alive - layered, warm, and full of movement.
It was one of those receptions where the joy never dipped, only built.
Kristin and Sam’s wedding was a reminder of what happens when couples trust their vision, stay present, and allow the day to unfold naturally. Every part of the day reflected who they are and what they value.
It was a privilege to document a wedding so rooted in love, joy, and connection — the kind of celebration that stays with you long after the last song plays.
